Summit Landscapes – Groundworks

Summit Landscapes offers a vast range of groundworks services to both commercial and residential clients…

We have completed projects for Cambridge University, Cambridge County Council and Cambridge City Council. Summit Landscapes have also completed groundworks and surfacing for dentist practices, local schools, language schools, nurseries and offices.

We work closely with many local builders, architects and self-build domestic property developers.

Earth Moving

As part of the preparatory groundworks, most landscaping and building projects require an element of earth moving. Subsequently, time and money are often lost in this area. Therefore, to be as efficient as possible, it is important to have the right groundworks equipment.

Summit Landscapes have mini-diggers, micro-diggers and tracked dumpers that we can deploy to all our Cambridge landscaping projects. Where access is limited, our micro-diggers, being only 750mm wide (including tracks), come in very handy. We have a huge range of breakers and other handheld machinery available for when micro-excavators can’t gain access.

Footings

Summit Landscapes are thoroughly experienced in preparation for building work and following architectural drawings or verbal instructions. We can also advise on what is required for the project when the work is off-plan.

Drainage & Soakaways

All surfacing that Summit Landscapes installs has some form of drainage. We are experts in sewage systems, oil separation and chemical collection tanks in industrial settings.

Even if it is just as simple as creating a fall on a level area to allow water runoff, drainage is planned into every groundworks project.

Summit Landscapes have overseen land drainage, often with the addition of mechanical pumping equipment.

Concrete & Surfacing

Summit Landscapes have a team of professionals working solely on Tarmac and concreting. Our foreman has been in the surfacing business for 30 years and has overseen a vast amount of work in that time. We can provide you with every relevant surfacing option, from advising on surface thicknesses, admixtures, fibres, reinforcement to finishes.

Kerbs & Edging

Kerbs and edging stones can be both structural and/or decorative. Summit Landscapes install kerbs and edging on a solid and strong concrete bed and make sure the sides are haunched and smoothed. This is the area of any groundworks project where you can see the quality of the workmanship. We, therefore, take the extra time and effort to make sure straight edges are just so and any curves are marked out evenly.

Stables & Equestrian

Summit Landscapes sees a large demand for local stables and equestrian work because we are just a stone’s throw from Newmarket Racecourse.
We can apply our groundwork skills to oversee the construction and renovation of many types of structures. These include stables, stable bases, horse walker bases, field shelters and bases, stable yards. We also specialise in riding arenas, fencing, tracks, footpaths, bridleways and associated drainage.

Summit Landscapes offer a comprehensive groundworks planning service and are extremely focused on our clients’ needs and the stables’ inhabitants.

Carparks

Tarmac is used for most carpark surfaces. We take care of the entire project from start to finish, including the drainage and any local planning requirements

Footpaths

Footpaths are surfaced in various materials. These range from block paving, resin bound gravel and Tarmac, for applications such as schools, parks and open spaces.

Tennis Courts

Summit Landscapes have completed a number of tennis court constructions in and around Cambridgeshire. Obviously, grass is a firm favourite here in the UK; however, we also provide Tarmac and AstroTurf courts. We, therefore, provide drainage solutions and take care of every other aspect of the build with our hard surfaces.

Recessed Trampolines & Hot Tubs

Summit Landscapes often make trampolines safer or better utilise space for hot tubs by lowering them to (and under) ground level. This involves excavation and retaining the soil sides.
